I Choose to Make a Difference during this Season of Giving
It is impossible to express the sense of loss, sadness, anger, and disbelief at the horrific events that took the lives of 26 children and adults at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. I pray for the souls now in God's hands, and for the friends, family, and loved ones who are left behind to grieve and find a way to continue forward.
But I wanted to do something else. Something that would have a tangible impact in support of those families and their community. So I have chosen to run. To run in the hope that others will join me to raise funds to help.
United Way of Western Connecticut is committed to providing support and resources where and when they become identified and needed. As people from the area and beyond respond to this heartbreaking tragedy, they are turning to United Way looking for ways to help. In response, United Way of Western Connecticut in partnership with Newtown Savings Bank has created the 'Sandy Hook School Support Fund' that will be able to provide support services to the families and community that has been affected.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation towards the Half
Marathon -- 13.1 miles -- that I plan to complete on December 29th.
Any amount you can contribute will make a difference in the lives of
those surviving families. You can make your donation on my safe, secure Fundraising page.
Thanks in advance for helping me to reach out in a positive, tangible way to say "You are not alone!"
